Action Figure #124: DC Universe Classics Red Superman

  Red Oni, Blue Oni.

And if you thought a blue energy Superman was weird, what if I told you that later on he split into two parts, an angrier Red Superman, and the Blue one became calmer, and nicer. The 90's were wild for comic books, man.
Well, everything that I said about Blue Superman's sculpt applies to this one, with one tiny change... the headsculpt was redone, because this Superman is ANGRY! I think I kinda prefer how the Blue Superman looks, but only a teeny tiny bit more, I also like this one.
Articulation is identical and so is his size.
Well, I like both figures a lot, but if I could only keep one I'd pick the Blue one. But that's just me.

Action Figure #123: Marvel Legends Spider-man 2099(Retro-Carded)

  This one isn't hunting Miles.

It was time we got a new Spider-man figure into the blog! I'm sure Spider-man 2099 would've made for the ideal figure #2099 entry, but I don't think I'll get that far.... right?
The guy uses the Pizza-Spidey mold as a base, which at the time, was a great Spider-man buck. But, y'see, now every Spider-man figure that comes out is using either a version of the Sunfire Mold or a version of the Renew Your Vows mold, which makes Miguel look too thin and short next to them, just his head alone is tinier than his counterparts. Once again, at the time, this was THE Spider-man mold, but he'll look outdated next to your new Spider-man figures. Another thing... his costume is a bit more purple than blue, although, if you know your Spider-man, you'd know that his suit is supposed to be Black, but people thought the blue highlights was meant to be the actual color. Proof that it's a mistake is that during his original run, he was called the man dressed in black.
AH, the articulation... this figure was victim to a huge QC issue all across the board. While, supposedly, he has the same articulation as Pizza Spidey.... his swivel legs DON'T work. Anecdotally, some people claimed that hot water helped fix it, in my case it didn't... and other people said that trying to fix their legs with hot water only broke them. Needless to say, this issue massively hampers the poses you can get on the guy.
Spider-man 2099 is not only outdated, but also disappointing due to the QC issues.

Action Figure #122: DC Universe Classics Blue Superman

  He's feeling a bit blue.

I've never liked Superman, however, there was this very brief window in the 90's in which I actually liked Superman, when he became a blue energy being. He had actual weaknesses beyond "green rock", and he was more than just a flying brick now. Of course, he got status quo'd.
The mold is nothing special, aside from the energy thingie on his back. The blues and white, alongside energy effect, make him look kinda... godly. I really dig it. He's got a really calm face, which really fits this Superman(Spoilers!).
Articulation, well... it's what you'd expect. He seems to be about as tall as the Bucky-Cap Mold.
Fairly simple figure, but I love how he looks. He looks so powerful, for some reason.

Action Figure #121: Marvel Legends Avalanche

Gee whiz, I wonder what his power is!?

Avalanche is not the coolest guy in the world, nor the most popular, but when I was younger I had an action figure of him, so I wanted to own him again!
The sculpt.... I like the sculpt The silver paint looks really nice, and the guy looks beefy, just as I'd expect him to. However... This was the first Marvel Legends that ever broke on me. Both arms did. It seems the plastic they used was garbage, because I looked it up and it happened to other people as well. I had to use the Screw Fix on him, to mixed results... but at least he has arms, I guess.
Articulation is what you'd expect of the Marvel Legends line. Mine is a bit wonky because I drilled to far, but hey, he was my first attempt! My first two attempts actually.
He's... he sucks. I mean, the figure looks nice, I like it, but... both arms? Really? And I'm not the only one with that issue? C'mon Hasbro.

Action Figure #120: Game Dimensions Jin Kazama

He cares so little he is packaged showing you his back.
I'm pretty sure that Game Dimensions is an offshoot of Anime Heroes and Dragon Stars, because this Jin Kazama feels like the next step after Anime Heroes, in terms of sculpting and articulation.
Look at this guy! He looks fantastic. He is just a shirtless guy, but his body is sculpted beautifully. He also has his iconic Tekken gauntlets and everything. That said, they did something that I find a bit questionable... To simulate pants, his legs are covered with a very rubbery soft plastic. It hides the articulation well, but... the more you bend it, the more the paint of the designs start to chip. And I wonder just how durable this material is, won't it degrade over time? I would've preferred more traditional plastic sculpting and paint, to be honest... but I guess only time will tell. His red guards also look plasticky, because they are just this bright, plastic red color without anything else on them.
The articulation is pretty good, the elbows and knees are double jointed, he has a ball-jointed waist and an ab crunch, as well as ball jointed shoulders. You can get a lot of Tekken-y poses on the guy. He's taller than the Bucky-Cap mold.
He is a pretty good figure, but they really need to start trying to make their figures look less than toys. These plastic-red pieces, namely the belt and the guards need some more colored highlights on them. I'm also not too sure about the thing they did with the pants.. That aside, the sculpt is really good, and the articulation is just as good.

Action Figure #119: DC Universe Classics Lex Luthor(Kryptonite Chaos)

I bet he only hates Superman because of his luscious hair.

No, I do not own the Supergirl figure... although maybe I should, she looks cool. Anyways! We are here to talk about Lex Luthor, not Superman's.... damn, Supergirl's story are convoluted. Maybe that's even Matrix...
Anyways, back to our baldy villain, Lex. This guy is featured in his iconic power armor. He shares more than a few pieces with Mr. Freeze, but looks very, very different. Originally it had some orange cables by his shoulders, but I bought this guy used and those were broken! Still, you know, he looks massive and imposing, definitely a match for Supes.
... if only he could move. The green skirt makes sure that he can't move his legs, like, at all, and his armor restricts the range on his arms... and, by the by, he suffers from Iron Fist's collar syndrome, he can't look to the sides! He is slightly taller than the Bucky-Cap mold.
I mean... he is accurate, but he's not too good of an action figure because there's not much action to this figure!

Action Figure #118: Marvel Legends Age of Apocalypse Cyclops

Grail... acquired(Only Reddit kids will understand)

This is probably the ugliest Cyclops figure I own, but it's Cyclops and he was cheap, so I bit the bullet. For what it's worth, the opening line is a reference to a guy that claimed to have swapped weed for this figure, so that years down the line when I revisit this.... I can relieve the meme.
This guy is just ugly. He looks so basic, and, to be fair to Hasbro, sometimes this Cyclops has been depicted like this... but they went the laziest route possible, because sometimes he also has yellow/gold boots, which is something that would've added SOMETHING to this plain looking figure. I think Hasbro knew that they were probably a bit too lazy, so they added some paint to his armor to make it look scrapped. It's still a boring looking figure, and I think it also has to do with the fact that he is on the Bucky-Cap mold. Which is a perfectly good mold, but on such a basic design doesn't do very well. The cherry on top is how dull the face sculpt is. I think that if he had been built on the Vulcan body, which has more heroic proportions, it would've instantly made him look better.
Articulation is, well, a Bucky cap mold. You might need to raise his belt to use the waist swivel, but once again, nothing worth talking about.
I don't know, I mean... there's not much you can do with this design, right? But something about this figure feels so lifeless, there's a reason it became a peg-warmer. Maybe if he came with a single-eye optic blast piece, yellow boots, I don't know, anything?
