This truly was our Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen is now gone and done, and while reception to the final arc and fight has been mixed, to put it
kindly, we can all still agree that
Yuji Itadori was kinda cool. Figurats' JJK has gotten a bit expensive and sought after, so I was stoked that a re-release of Yuji was announced, and promptly found a way to get my hands on him.
And, well, it's kinda...
Eh. Don't get me wrong, the figure itself is
dope, this is a very beefy looking figure, which I dig, and he has this big hands and feet that are not quite accurate to the manga, but make the figure look
strong. The sculpt of the body and the paint on the face are all
spot on. So, if it's all so good, what's my beef with the figure? Well, this re-release has
skimped out on the accessories. An alternate wind-struck bangs piece, two pair of hands and a single alternate face-plate. We are
missing two faceplates, a Sukuna-mouth hand and energy effects. Considering the figure is not all that cheaper than the original release and how hard it got to find... this is kinda
pathetic.
At least the articulation is the same. Double-jointed knees and elbows grant Yuji a lot of mobility. The shoulders are made of soft rubber,
simulating butterfly joints, which give him quite a bit on range to cross his arms, and while he doesn't have swivels on his biceps, you can turn the arm-piece alongside the shoulder ball-joint. He has leg swivels, a waist swivel and a nice ball-jointed ab-crunch. He is also kinda tall, being almost as tall as the Bucky Cap buck!
A small issue with the figure is the abdomen, it's a soft-plastic piece that depending on how you twist Itadori around... can end up look quite
gappy.
Also, I'm getting stress marks on the upper part of this piece due to all the posing.
Itadori is a great action figure, and I'm quite happy to have him, however, even though I'm not the sort of person that plays around with faceplates and hands... there's no denying that this release is not as good as the original.
