Action Figure #482: Star Wars the Black Series Rey & D-O

  She is ALL the Jedi... whatever that means.

 Well, I had the Gary Stu of Star Wars heroes with Starkiller, might as well get Rey, the Mary Sue! For all her failings as a character, she was out first Movie female Jedi that actually had something important to do, and she gave us our first yellow movie saber.

 I absolutely love how she came out. Unlike Kylo, they nailed Daisy Riddle's likeness to a tee, so she looks exactly like Rey does. Her costumes is made out of flowing clothes and robes, so I think she looks incredible. I warmed up enough to Rey and Kylo to be able to say that I actually think they both look really cool, and I really dig their action figures. She comes with the droid, D-O, and a tiny bit of plastic to help him stand... which I lost somewhere! She comes with a light-saber, a blaster and her staff. Now, her saber is a bit of a missed opportunity because, even though this is Rise of Skywalker's Rey... this is Anakin's saber. Again. Many Lukes come with Anakin's saber, Anakin comes with Anakin's saber, a special edition Ben Kenobi comes with Anakin's saber and EVEN Rey comes with Anakin's saber... she should have come with Leia's or her own original saber, not Anakin's again, even though, admittedly, it's the saber she used the most. Maybe she should've come with Anakin's and Leia's or Anakin's and her's.

 Articulation covers all the beats of older Black Series' figures. The only bit worth pointing out is that her holster is glued to her right leg, so if you try to turn that leg too much it will break the holster... which might work out for the best, since it's also connected to her waist piece, and it might be better for the holster to hover over her waist and grant her all 360 degrees of turning to her leg. It is what happened to my Comic Book Luke. She is a bit shorter than Bucky Cap.

 Rey is a very solid action figure. I absolutely love having her in my collection... but man, she should've come with another saber!

Action Figure #481: Star Wars the Black Series BB-8(Rey & BB-8)

  Beep beep!

 I didn't need a BB-8 figure but I wanted one, even though I really, really didn't want Rey's original, ugly figure... luckily, I found a guy selling the newer figure ALONGSIDE BB-8, and that's how we got here!

 Much like Grogu, this is more of an accessory than an action figure, so I have to judge him accordingly. And well, how did they attain this figure? Easy, he has a weighed bottom, which guarantees he won't be falling over, and it has a small hole on the upper part of the body, allowing BB-8 to move and turn his head a bit. It's a decent workaround. And the little figure has a lot of detail, he looks really nice too. He is very short, going a little over Bucky Cap's knee.

 Well, I like BB-8. Much like Grogu, he is a nice little extra.

Action Figure #480: Star Wars The Black Series Grand Admiral Thrawn

  Before Kathleen Kennedy ruined Star Wars, we had...

 Grand Admiral Thrawn! Thrawn is one of the reasons Disney's purchase of Star Wars sucked so much. Not only did they give us a sorry excuse for a sequel trilogy, but they decided to make anything but the six original movies and some of the tv shows not canon, which cost us our beloved Thrawn. At least for a while, since he has made it back into canon, albeit in a different fashion. So last month I came across Ahsoka's Thrawn action figure, and lamented how he was the only figure we had of Thrawn... only to discover that they had made a comic-accurate(Sure, sure, he comes from books, but his iconic look was cemented by the comics) Thrawn years ago! A Thrawn that didn't look like Elon Musk? I needed him!

 And he looks almost straight out of the comic books. He has a very stern expression on his face, as well as a very square-shapedhead, which is exactly what I wanted. They also picked the exact sky-blue skin tone for him. The only thing I would change is make his red eyes more vibrant, since they are a bit small and they get lost in their black outline. He comes with a blaster. It would've been neat if he included his Ysalirami, or whatever they were called, the lizards that disrupted the Force.

 Articulation is just like with any other older Black Series figure, single-jointed elbows and double-jointed knees, with a ball-joint on his waist. Thrawn can land any pose you'd need him to with ease, and he is as tall as Bucky Cap!

 Honestly, this Thrawn figure is everything I had wanted, and they got absolutely everything right.

Action Figure #479: Star Wars The Black Series C-3PO(A New Hope)

  A silver leg beats a red arm any day of the week.

 Another classic SW character I don't care too much about, here's C-3PO. He's always been comic relief, and I never cared too much about the droids, just bring me the Jedi! But hey, he is part of the main characters AND I used to own a figure of him, so his appearance in my collection was inevitable.

 Well, for starters... I think he should've bee shinier. My Kenner C-3PO was super shiny, and he was super shiny in the original movie too, so much so that it wasn't all that easy to tell that he had a silver leg. At least, C-3PO's deceptively complex design was sculpted really nicely, they even kept the odd protrusions he has on his chest-plate. I bought mine used, and sadly, he had some of the gold paint chipped due to some scuffs, revealing that he is actually cast in black and painted with gold paint, instead of being cast in gold plastic.  

 The articulation is pretty bad... but that's the way C-3PO is, to be honest. He has thigh swivels that don't rotate all the way, he can't turn his torso 360 degrees and he can't bend or straighten his arms. At least his arms go up-wards, down-wards and to the sides. The knees are single jointed, but they don't have much range. I mean, it makes sense for the character, but it makes for a figure that isn't much fun to toy around with, serving more as decor for the other characters. He is quite shorter than Bucky Cap. 

 Well, he is more of an action figure than Jabba, which goes to show that even with a mobility-impaired character you can give them articulation that fits them. I mean, they did as much as they could've done with the character, so if you actually like the character, you will love this figure.

Action Figure #478: Star Wars The Black Series Chewbacca(Solo: A Star Wars Story)

  AHHNNNG HNNNG HNNNNNNNG!

 My father used to like Chewbacca, but I was never his biggest fan, so I wasn't too particular about which Chewie I was getting as long as he wasn't Return of the Jedi's, since that one comes with a prisoner's collar. So I got Solo's Chewie, he looks a bit brighter than your average Chewbacca, but he was super cheap, which was all that I really needed.

 On the sculpt department... man, we've come a long way! I used to own a few Kenner Chewbacca's, even a bootleg one, and those figures were about as tall as the other heroes... not so anymore! This guy looks huge, and the detail is fantastic. From his bandolier straps, to how the fur goes over his hands.... everything looks amazing. He also comes with a pair of goggles I'm never using as well as a shotgun-like blaster.

 The articulation is just like the other modern Black Series' figures, with single jointed knees and elbows, as well as a ball jointed ab-crunch. Due to the shape of his head, turning is head is a bit of a hassle. One thing to keep in mind is that his arms have more range than it looks, you simply have to use a tiny bit of force to push the soft-plastic fur-ends of his arms. He is about two heads taller than Bucky Cap.

 Quite honestly, this Chewie is everything I needed a Chewbacca figure to be. I feel like I won't ever need another Chewie in my collection. Detail is great, articulation is great and the likeness is great too.

Action Figure #477: Star Wars The Black Series Grogu(IG-12 & Grogu)

 It's a baby Yoda!

 I needed, heck, everyone needs a Grogu figure, so I managed to snatch a loose Grogu for 8 bucks. Was it worth it? Maybe.

 This guy is tiny, like, really, really tiny, and I love it. There's not much that can be done with such a tiny figure, but I think they nailed it. His cloak is detailed, and the paint on his little face looks perfect. He is really dope.

 And the best part about him? He is articulated too! You can turn his tiny feet, for whatever reason, and his arms are on tiny ball joints, so he can move his arms a little to the sides, as well as up and down. His head turns too! He is as tiny as you'd expect, not even reaching Bucky Cap's knee.

 I think this Grogu is absolutely adorable, even if he is more of an accessory than a figure, so I'll judge him accordingly.

Action Figure #476: Star Wars The Black Series Kylo Ren(The Last Jedi)

  The last Skywalker.

 A lot can be said about Star Wars' Sequel Trilogy, but most of it isn't very good. I've sorta warmed up, a bit, to Rey and Kylo Ren, the leads, but that's as much as I'll give them. The Force Awakens was A New Hope but repackaged, The Last Jedi is still one of the prime cases of Character Assassination of a beloved character and Rise of Skywalker proofs that you can't climb out of a hole using nostalgia. But, alas, this is about the figure...

 Having warmed up to the leads, I can now admit that the crossguard saber is sorta cool, and that Kylo Ren's visual design can be cool too. In that sense, the figure is a really good adaptation of how Ren looks, and I think that he looks kinda cool. The resemblance to Adam Driver is relatively good, but it could've been a lot better, but, and it's a BIG but... why is his hair brown? Adam's hair is black, Ben Solo's hair is black, so... what is this? It makes the figure look very odd. He also comes with an alternate, bladeless hilt, which is how all Jedi and Sith figures should come, as well as a soft-rubber cape that is only held by the figure's shoulders, making it completely useless.

 The articulation is on par with the older Black Series' figures, having single jointed elbows but double jointed knees. His waist is on a ball-joint and he has swivels on thighs. While you can't get him on his Last Jedi 'pointing' blade pose he kept striking you can still get him on cool poses. He is as tall as Bucky Cap.

 While there are some glaring issues with the figure, like the useless cape and the brown hair, the rest of the figure looks really nice, and he is a fine addition to my Sith figures.
