Best and Worst Marvel Action Figures
Last year it made sense to divide the Marvel action figures by franchise because, well, over 200 of the entries were Marvel Legends! This year, I only made 46 new additions on this line. Sadly, the plastic Quality has gone down the gutter, with gummy arms that stress gummy shoulders. I tried to buy less Marvel Legends this year, but as hard as I tried, some of their new sculpts just brought me back. Damn Hasbro!
Worst) Blood Storm
Who has ever asked for Vampire Storm? I mean, I know that Storm is a fairly popular character, but who wanted this one off character in action figure form? Well, all three of you will be very disappointed. Outdated arms that barely reach 90 degrees, and having very lanky and unappealing proportions make for one ugly figure.
5) Marvel Select's Titanium Man
Not really a Marvel Legends, but this was the only Marvel Select, RIP, I purchase this year, so it fits here. This is a massive unit of a figure, it's huge, but, unlike with their Abomination and Juggernaut figures, this one's articulation is actually pretty good. I love the metallic dark green he was painted on, and making him look cool is so easy. This figure shows how good Marvel Select could be, shame they went bankrupt before releasing their Annihilus.
4) Dark Avengers' Warbird As someone who lives outside North America, getting the new Warbird was a pain in the neck, so, sadly, I had to miss out on her. And I needed a Warbird so badly! Luckily, I've also wanted the classic Ms. Marvel look, and she was widely made available. This was my first brush with the new female buck, and I was mighty impressed. I love the look of this figure, and the new articulation made her so much fun to play with!
3) Agent Anti-Venom (Magic: The Gathering) The new Agent Venom figure was a bit divisive. I saw many of us loving it, but I also saw comments hating the figure. Well, I loved it, I only lamented that we lost both the Tendril accessory AND the back port, in case we owned the older figure. Well, with Agent Anti-Venom Hasbro decided to right their wrongs, because they made the already badass new sculpt EVEN better. I honestly love this figure. Sure, it's not quite accurate to any one depiction of Agent AV, but it's a decent interpretation of the guy, and while I didn't much care about the blue guns... they slowly grew on me!
Runner-up) Psylocke (Gamerverse) Much like Warbird, this figure was a pain in the butt to get... but this time, I was willing to go through the hassle, because she looked so damn cool. And the figure delivered, oh boy, did it deliver. While I was satisfied with the older Marvel Legends Psylocke, I always debated if I should get the MAFEX or the Revoltech, because those looked closer to what I'd want from a Psylocke figure... and then this one came out. It has an all new sculpt, which looks incredible and is a lot of fun to play with, and they captured the look from MVC very well, with some lovely energy accessories. She is easily one of the best Marvel Legends ever made so far, and definitely worth the while.
Winner) Nemesis (Build-A-Figure) Toy Collectors everywhere were speculating that this Nemesis Wave would be the last BAF wave since it looked like Hasbro wanted to phase it out. And I thought... if this is the last BAF will ever get, man, is this a high note. Well, it wasn't the last BAF, but this is one of the most impressive figures they have released, it almost looks too cool for a Marvel Legends. And mind you, I don't particularly care for this design, I liked the 90's yellow-and-orange look better, but I fell in love with the guy the moment I finally built him up. He is so cool!
Best and Worst DC Action Figures
Only 8 DC Action figures this year. This was due to a few different factors... DC Universe Classics have lost some of their magic, they are old and some of them have become brittle, so buying them has been kind of a dice roll if they'll retain their legs or not, plus, with the new of Mattel reacquiring the license made me kind of want to wait and see what they'll do with it. So... Yeah, this list might as well not even have been made, but I've always have a soft spot for DC.
Worst) DC Direct Brainiac(New Krypton)
A four? I gave this guy a 4.0? Man, either my standards were low or I was way too easy on this guy. I know that DC Direct figures have poor articulation, and this guy is no exception, but his articulations are molded on brittle clear plastic, and on of his arms came off very easily. The design is also kinda bland... I needed a Brainiac figure, but... man...
5) DC Direct Huntress
I was definitely too nice with the DC Direct line. Look, she is not great, she looks a bit lanky, and the articulation is very middle of the way, but other than that, she is a halfway decent figure. Might be a tad too tall for a six inch collection, but I can roll with it.
4) DC Super Heroes Doomsday
This is a perfectly serviceable, even if unremarkable, Doomsday figure. He has a nice, fun sculpt with a lot of detail that make him look like a good depiction of the character... I just kinda wish his proportions would let him mesh well with the other figures of the line, because, man, that head is tiny!
3) DC Universe ClassicsHal Jordan (Wave 20)
I've never quite like Hal Jordan much, but this is a much better version of his costume. I loved the metallic green and glossy black, and the more streamlined costume design that makes him look modern while looking like Hal. This is the Hal Jordan I should've purchased before.
Runner-up) DC Multiverse Batman (Gotham by Gaslight)
I didn't really need another Batman in my collection, but I found him for cheap, and it was a good excuse to watch the animated movie! This was a fine action figure, as with their other Batman, the cape limits his arms, but I do love the details on his costume, as well as all the little knives. He was a a nice addition to my caped crusaders.
Winner) DC Direct Batman Rogues Gallery The Penguin
So... I didn't even know that this thing existed, but I think it was through a video or something, I saw this nasty looking Penguin, so I immediately search out to find out what line he was from and how to get it. I'm always harsh on action figures with poor articulation, and this guy can't even move his legs... but his spectacular sculpt made up for it. He looks nasty, and I love it. I love the tiny metallic chain, I love his disgusting face, his nasty hands, everything! So just this once... I'll give a pseudo-statue its due!
Star Wars Action Figures
Last year... I only owned 34 sad Star Wars action figures... well, this year I bought 88 new Star Wars figures, hot damn! What can I say, Hasbro's plastic got gummier, but it plays nicer with how the joints in this line are made. Plus, while they have simpler articulation, I'm liking these sleek new figures. If I was able to split these figures last year, with only 34 figures, I might as well do it this time again! Once again, force sensitives with light sabers on one side, commoners on the other!
Best and Worst Commoner Figures
Worst) Captain Poe Dameron
I dislike the Sequel Trilogy as much as anyone who likes Star Wars does, but... I'd still like decent action figures to represent it. This Poe is hideous, he is chubby and looks absolutely nothing like Oscar Isaac, they did him SO dirty!
5) K-2SO
Now, this is a bit of a me thing, but I didn't much care for Rogue One. It felt too Marvel-ish for my taste, and K-2SO was a bit part of that, because most of his scenes felt like Marvel Humor... but dammit if his figure wasn't fun to play with. He has all sorts of interesting joints, and alongside his weird proportions, well... I had a lot of fun posing this guy.
4) General Grievious
I've read that a few people don't like this figure. Apparently he is hard to stand? Can't say I had that issue. While his tiny joints do feel a bit fragile, I think he came out great, Hasbro managed to translate his design into plastic very well. It's a weird, unique figure, that I quite liked toying around with.
3) Cara Dune
Due to the actress' firing, this figure has become rather expensive. Which is a shame, because she is a bit of a banger. Not only does she get an entirely unique sculpt, the actress herself has a rather... non-hegemonic figure, and it translates to the figure itself, which makes her one of the most unique female action figures I own, which is something I quite appreciate. It extends beyond that, the design is badass, and she comes with a unique looking gatling blaster to make her stand out EVEN more. Despite the higher cost, I think she is worth it.
Runner-up) Enfys Nest & Swoop Bike
Look, the action figure herself is forgettable, much like the character. But the bike... it's all about the bike. To the moment of me writing this, it's still my favorite vehicle in my collection. Throughout the year I've posed other figures riding it because it's just so damn cool!
Winner) Nightsister Merrin (Jedi Survivor)
It took WAY too long, but Merrin is finally part of the crew! This figure looks ripped straight out of the videogame, her design is really good, the translation to plastic is just as good with nicely detailed jewelry and textures, and her accessories are fantastic, and unique to her. What's not to love here?

Worst) Anakin (Ahsoka)
Just what is this creature? The proportions are just terrible, and the articulations is simply outdated. One of the shoulder-pads is badly cast... the only nice thing I've got to say about this guy is that the face sculpt is spot on. Everything else belongs in the trash!
5) The Ronin
One of the latter figures I purchased this year, the Ronin was an instant favorite of mine. The guy looks amazing, and I love how they had fun sculpting the wiry coat and belt. It's an incredible figure all around, with a great, badass looking design and pretty good articulation to match it.
4) Savage Opress
Savage's brother was here last year! I think Savage Opress is kind of an underdog in the Star Wars universe, and I think not many people were waiting for this guy to get made... but he is here now, and he is great. The sculpt came out beautiful, and he has this great, imposing presence that any good villain figure should have.
3) Obi-Wan Kenobi (Clone Trooper 2-Pack)
Obi-Wan had the high ground... and the better Clone Wars action figure! While Anakin had weird proportions, this guy looks JUST right, and the face sculpt looks like a nice mixture of Ewan McGreggor and his 3-D model, but where Anakin's articulation was outdated, Obi-Wan's was up to the series modern standard. This is a fantastic Obi-Wan to own, and I would've been quite happy even if it was the only Obi-Wan I ever owned, but alas...
Runner-up) Dagan Gera (BX-Droid 2-Pack)
While I someone resent how he got made before any member of the Mantis Crew, I will admit that Dagan Gera was very cool, so I was happy that he got a figure. He came in two flavors, missing his arm and with the arm construct... since he is a dual wielder, this version made more sense for me. Great sculpt all around, and good articulation. This figure has this royal presence to him that I really do like, I mean, look at those hilts with gold on them! Fantastic little figure.
Winner) SDCC Anakin Skywalker & Obi-Wan Kenobi
This two pack is Hasbro when they try. Where to start from? Both figures have 100% new, beautiful sculpts, their bodies look sleek and layered, as they should since they wear Jedi robes. The likenesses of the actors a pretty much perfect. And alongside these two fantastic figures, you get one of the coolest diorama pieces they could've made, the platforms look incredible, with great amount of detail and nicely painted. Getting this set was a she-dog and a half, but I don't regret it one bit. I got up early like two days straight just for a chance to get it.
Best and Worst JADA Toys Action Figures
This was the Street Fighter category last year, but JADA has diversified their licensed and I dabbled in a few of them. I got 8 new Jada figures, most of them Street Fighter, but... not all of them!
Worst) Robocop 3.0
Well, is this one a shocker. I got so used to Jada's top notch quality that I expected their roots would be just as good. Let's just say that this is one of the worst action figures I've ever owned. How is it that the elbow bend works better when you bend it backward? What were they thinking?
5) Vega
I got this one not so long, and I haven't put it down yet. Like with ANY other modern JADA figure, this one is pure quality through and through. This one ranks a bit lower because it doesn't really look like Vega, he is supposed to be lankier... but I like him better this way.
4) Blanka
Blanka has never been a Street Fighter I cared too much about, but it might change with this figure. One of Jada's two "deluxe", meaning larger, releases of the year, Blanka was another knock-out, with some neat tricks, like a hollowed hair, or leg-hair that goes over the ankle swivel, that make the figure look great AND keep its balance. I like how they even kept Blanka's overbite!
3) Cammy
Cammy is among my favorite Street Fighters, so I had high hopes for her... and JADA delivered. I got her very early this year, and she was a blast to play with. And still is. I swear, everything that JADA touches this year just turns to gold.
Runner-up) Lucy
Western companies always have a hard time with anime faces, but not one to back down from a challenge, JADA did their best... and the result is quite good. While not as pretty as a Figuarts, they nailed the anime-style face really well. And beyond that, the sculpt is gorgeous, and the articulation is as good as any of their other figures, I kept her among the figures I regularly fidget with fairly frequently throughout 2025.
Winner) Sagat
The other "Deluxe" release from this year, Jada's Sagat is a thing of beauty. He is massive, but the detail and paint apps are as good as any of their other releases, and he also gets toe articulation for good measure. There's something so menacing about this figure that I've had a hard time putting him down this year.
Best and Worst Power Rangers Action Figures
Last year I purchased a few Power Rangers figures. Not a lot, a few... and for whatever reason... I decided to collect a few more this year... despite the line getting, y'know, discontinued. How many? 63 Power Ranger figures were added to my collection this year. There's not a good way to divide them, not really, so let's get on with the list!
Worst) Dino Charge Red Ranger
Admittedly the score is a bit lower because this guy broke on me, but... I looked up reviews, and every single reviewer had the same issues: Stiff shoulders. How does that happen? EVERY copy of the figure is like that. Yeah... he is no good.
5) Beast Morphers Gold Ranger
Characters clad in gold will always have an edge on my lists, because it's so close to my favorite color. It helps that this guy's suit is just so cool, even if it looks a bit bulky. Yeah, definitely among the better ranger designs, and the best Beast Morpher.
4) In Space Silver Ranger & Silver Cycle
I don't think I noticed before, but the In Space designs kinda slap! The Silver ranger is cool all over, sculpted in metallic silver with golden accents, the guy looks flashy as hell. The bike is a great vehicle, and his weapon is fairly unique. Overall? A great figure, I don't understand why nobody bought him!
3) Mighty Morphin Red Ranger Remastered
We are remastering action figures now? I actually had this guy pre-ordered on Big Bad Toystore... but I cancelled the pre-order because I didn't care too much about Power Rangers. Big mistake, I had to buy him at 100 usd or so. Very expensive, probably not worth it... but, let's be honest, the only thing cooler than the Green Ranger was the Red Ranger using his shield! This ranger just looks phenomenal, the red and gold go together very nicely. I don't recommend anyone spending so much moola on this guy, but... c'mon, look how cool he looks!
Runner-up) Dino Thunder Blue Ranger
I discovered this year that the Dino Thunder designs are among the most interesting ones in the Sentai universe. Now, couple that great design with one of the most unique accessories I've seen in the form of his triceratops shield and you get a pretty unique action figure. Yeah, all the Dino Thunder Rangers are great figure, but the shield just put him over the top for me.
Winner) Crimson Hawk Ryu
Hasbro gets a lot of flak, but, man, when they try, when they REALLY try they knock it out of the park. Ryu Ranger is, honestly, peak character design, which mixed together Street Fighter and Power Rangers perfectly... and they brought it into plastic like it was nobody's business. Now, give this great design the really good articulation the line has standarized across the board and a nice amount of accessories and you get this brilliant little fig.
Best and Worst Anime Heroes/Game Dimensions Action Figures
These Bandai lines of action figures is not one I care too much about... but I bought some great figures from this line this year, so why not throw'em a bone? Just 6 figures this year!
Worst) Sagittarius Aiolos
I've wanted to get into Saint Seiya figures, but they are really expensive, and I don't know if building up armors and the such is something I care for. In the mean time, while not get my zodiac sign's Saint through Anime Heroes?! Well, as per usual with the line, the sculpt is fine, although it lacks paint, but the biggest issue is that the articulation sucks. The skirt prevents his legs from moving, and his pauldrons don't let his arms reach very high... so he kinda blows.
5) Beelzemon
I bought a few Anime Heroes early this year, and I was so impressed that I bought a few more anime heroes later in 2025. Beelzemon was among those early figures. He had a honestly good sculpt, with good articulation to match. Sure, the sculpt wasn't amazing, but that's the thing... it was pretty good, in particular when compared to their earlier Dragon Stars, so I just had to get more!
4) Omegamon
Yup, another one of those early action figures from 2025, his unorthodox design lends itself oh so well to Anime Heroes aesthetics! He is a lovely action figure to pose around, looking very elegant and powerful.
3) Wargreymon
The last of the early figures I purchased this year... and also the best. This figure just looks incredible, the only thing that holds it back is the somewhat lifeless plastic look that this line always has... which could be fixed with a few more paint apps to make his beautiful sculpt stand out more. But even disregarding that, this is a great hunk of plastic that will look amazing no matter how you pose him.
Runner-up) Kazuya
Much like Wargreymon, this is a gorgeous action figure that is let down by its lack of paint. Honestly, with just an extra bit of TLC these figures would truly great. But regardless, this is a badass looking Kazuya, and unlike Jin, his pants are fully sculpted in plastic. You just love to see it.
Winner) Sabo
Not the only Sabo I purchased this year, nor the only one that will appear on this list, Spoilers! This figure is great, because the simple paint and lanky proportions are just SPOT ON for the One Piece anime, so this Sabo ends up looking so faithful to the anime! Really, Anime Heroes is such a big step up from Dragon Stars, and this figure shows just how good they can truly be.
Best and Worst Import Action Figures
With the arrival of the Trump Tariffs I had to cut back a bit on the Imported I intended to buy this year... Which is a bit disappointing, but I still got a few, 6 in fact!
Worst) S.H. Figuarts Okarun (Transformed)
It wasn't just the tariffs that put me off from buying more imports... It was also how crummy Okarun and Momo were. For a new line of figures, from Figuarts who should know their craft by now, it was so disappointing. Either figure could've gone in here, but Okarun edged Momo out because he has a hard time even standing up. His over-engineered joints just look ugly, and the proportions on his body are just weird, not to mention that his articulation doesn't let him hit the poses he is known for.
4) Figma Joker (Persona 5)
I purchased a single Figma this year: Joker. He was a perfectly OK figure, nothing truly remarkable about him, but nothing wrong with him. All that said, this Thief of Hearts looks pretty snazzy in his all-black ensemble, and I think they did a good job translating him into plastic.
3) STORM Arena Ken
I fell in love with this figure when I first got him. He looked amazing, and the articulation felt smooth, while keeping the figure sturdy... but sadly, a few hours of fidgeting later, his right bicep swivel started clicking. Then one of his hips. And then the other hip just got stuck in place and I had to use oil to free it. And, frustrated, I went into Reddit, and I wasn't the only one who had this issues, some even had their hips locking on Ryu! This is definitely a good figure, but STORM Collectibles needs to iron out the kinks on the joints.
Runner-up) S.H. Figuarts Hinata
I got Naruto's only decently written female character only last month, and she was a blast and a half. The articulation is smooth all-around, and it has some neat little joints, like letting you move her hair, or even ball joints on her shins, to give her extra angles and dynamism when posing her. I was planning on getting Shikamaru, but Figuarts dropped the ball on him, so I was a bit scared they'd fall short off the mark with Hinata too... thankfully they didn't.
Winner) S. H. Figuarts Sabo
I got this figure very early this year, and while this it wasn't my favorite Sabo design at the time... It grew on me, and I think I prefer this get up to the black jacket now. And moving beyond the design, this one quickly became one of my favorite figures in my collection, because he is just so much fun to pose. Sure, the jacket does make him a bit top heavy, but you can either take it off... or play around with his legs and find a way to balance him, because I managed to get some pretty snazzy poses without the need for a stand. I love this guy!
Best and Worst OTHER Action Figures
Well, you know the gist of it. Figures that I either purchased to few of them to get their own list OR figures that don't have a line or whatever, that's what falls here. There were 20 figures here this year.
Worst) Game of Thrones Legacy Collection White Walker
There's so much wrong with this line in general, but the White Walker is the peak example of how terrible it was. Things broke out of the box, like with the other figures, due to the clear-plastic joints. The articulation is subpar at best, and my copy in particular had a QC issue in which he got two right biceps. Awful.
5) Frazetta Girls Teegra
Maybe I was a wee bit too nice on my entry, because midway through 2025 one of her knees broke, it snapped clean off just like that. But aside from that, this was a decent figure. The articulation wasn't the best, but it had a nice amount of accessories, including her pet panther, and the sculpt was very detailed, for as simple as a woman in a bikini is. Yeah, she's good, but the joints could've been better.
4) NECA Jason (Freddy VS Jason)
For as many bad things as I've heard about NECA, this guy felt sturdy as hell. Articulation certainly isn't the best, but it's good enough for Jason, and the sculpt is nothing short of astounding. I honestly enjoyed my time fidgeting with the guy, and Jason being Jason, his scale fits well with my other lines.
3) Monster Force The Forgotten King
I wish I liked Big Bad Toystore Workshop's character designs a bit more, because I knew this guy was pure quality the moment I popped him out of his cardboard prison. The sculpt, while simple, is really well done, and what he lacks in paint he makes up with all the accessories he comes with, from the unnecessarily large amount of hands, to his staff, his very intricate mask, or the effect pieces. And the plastic feels SO sturdy, unlike a Marvel Legends. So, yeah, this guy gets top marks all around.
Runner-up) Dungeons and Dragons Golden Archive Xanathar
This was one of those figures that I randomly discovered existed and right then and there decided I needed to own. This barely counts as an action figure, but he has a very detailed sculpt, with creases and cracks over his skin everywhere. His mouth looks appropriately nasty, with a glossier finish to it. He is a fantastic monster to own.
Winner) Savage Crucible Who-Man
Is this a Parody or a Tribute? I'm not sure, but he is fantastic. I bought him on a whim, wanting more medieval looking warriors, and it exceeded my expectations. Not only is the sculpt gorgeous, but the paint makes everything pop, with both his armor, skin and leathers having differently colored washes to highlight just how much work went into bringing this guy to life. The articulation covers all the basics, but I want to highlight just how incredible his two swords look. This fig hit all the right notes for me.
Best and Worst Anime Figures
Well, I got 10 action figures based on anime, and most of them have already been covered, but society loves multiple winners!
Worst) S. H. Figuarts Okarun
Yeah, a Figuarts figure is taking this spot, because their Dandadan line has been nothing short of disappointing. The characters just feel off-model, the articulation is limited, and the joints break up the sculpt so they just look like 3-D jigsaw puzzles.
5) Anime Heroes Wargreymon
We meet again, Wargreymon old bud! He's always been my favorite Digimon, and I used to own a bootleg articulated Wargreymon back in the day that was always my gold standard for Digimon figures(Hey, it was a REALLY good Brazillian bootleg), so I'm happy that I have this big, bombastic figure to replace it, because this one is way more accurate than my childhood figure ever was, and much more fun to play with.
4) Anime Heroes Sabo
This Sabo figures show how picking a license that plays to a line's strengths is a good idea. The simple sculpts and lack of paint apps fits One Piece so well, so this Sabo feels very faithful to the source material, and they didn't have to do anything different than what Anime Heroes has been doing all this time. This is Anime Heroes at their best.
3) JADA Toys Lucy
I know that this blog is pretty much a JADA glazing central... but what can I do? JADA is doing everything right. This is a top-notch anime action figure made by a Western maker, but they got everything right, the sculpt, the faces, the articulation... while feeling as sturdy as western figures tend to do. I hope JADA gets more licenses to play with.
Runner-up) S.H. Figuarts Hinata
Trump tariffs. A bad Dandadan line. A botched Shikamaru release... Things weren't looking to hot for Figuarts, so I almost cancelled my Hinata pre-order. Thankfully I didn't, because this figure was so much un to play with. The little fig is beautiful, and she is so easy to play with that I spent a few hours just taking pictures fooling around with her.
Winner) S.H. Figuarts Sabo
Just look at the photo above and dare tell me that this isn't one of the most suave figures ever made. Ever. I had been longing for a six inch Sabo figure for so long, and at the time I still didn't trust Anime Heroes, so I was so happy when he was announced, and the figure itself was such a banger! To this day I have this guy headlining my import figure display!
Best and Worst Videogames Action Figures
And here come the figures inspired on videogames. I had 30 of these this year, which is not a lot, but still. Much like 2024, there are some familiar faces here.
Worst) Purge Trooper (Cal Kestis 3-Pack)
It's not a horrid figure, but it's one that has issue holding his very own weapon, a very boring looking weapon that looks like a piece of iron instead of the energy club that it's supposed to be. The articulation on his arms is a bit limited too, and he simply looks kinda boring.
5) Power Rangers Lightning Collection Crimson Hawk Ryu
I'm not fond of OCs, I'm not Chris-Chan, but this crossover design is brilliant, so I'm happy that for whatever reason it got an action figure. And what an action figure at that! He looks great no matter how you look at him, and his articulation was so smooth!
4) JADA Toys Cammy
If I didn't know any better I'd say this is turning into another Street Fighter list! Cammy was another JADA success, because everything they do is great. She's a lovely piece of plastic that looks just like she does in the game, but without sacrificing poseability.
3) Marvel Legends Psylocke (Gamerverse)
Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighter? Oh boy, this is dangerously close to another Street Fighter list, but at least we are covering a Marvel character now. This was probably one of the most disliked action figures this year... when it came to getting her, because the demand for her was very high, but being a Target Exclusive... everyone had trouble getting her. Luckily I managed to import her from Canada because this figured delivered in every possible way.
Runner-up) Dagan Gera (BX-Droid 2-Pack)
And now, Star Wars has their own Sephiroth. This was a lovely action figure, and while he wasn't the final boss from Jedi Survivor, he was the most iconic villain from that game, so I'm quite happy he got an action figure so quickly, and such a good figure at that!
Winner) JADA Toys Sagat
And we're back with JADA's Sagat, because this guy was such an incredible figure! I honestly never much cared about Sagat, but then I got this figure and.... so this is how badass he can look, huh? Towering over every other Street Fighter, while looking like a wall of muscles. Goddamn!
Most Surprising Action Figures
These are figures that caught me by surprise. I bought them expecting nothing, or just out of curiosity but got rewarded with a figure that was more fun than I could've guessed.
5) Savage Crucible Who-Man
Like I wrote before, I bought him on a whim... Just a medieval warrior to add to my collection, but as soon as I got him out of his package... I realized I was playing with something very special. About the only thing I've got against him is how spiky he is, because outside of that, I love this fig, and I'll try to get a few more Savage Crucible figures on 2026.
4) Monster Force The Forgotten King
This figure was about seeing what Monster Force was all about. I didn't much care for a lot of the figures in the line, but this one looked the most appealing... and what a surprise it was. The thing feels like quality, as if won't break any time soon, and I also like the translucent effects for his powers and how it all comes together. I'll be on the lookout for any other Monster Force figures that strikes my fancy, because if they are as good as this one... oh boy!
3) Anime Heroes Wargreymon
This guy. It was this guy earlier this year that made me want to give these Bandai lines another try. Because they could make good action figures, they really could, as long as the license lent itself to their style. And I didn't regret it one bit, the other few Anime Heroes figures I got this year were all pretty darn good.
Runner-up) NECA Jason (Freddy VS Jason)
When I was a wee lad I would marathon horror movies on the 31ist of October. This year, this October, throughout the entire month I went back to my bread and butter: Slasher franchises. So... despite them being 7 inches, despite them being so fragile... I gave NECA a chance. I'm glad I did, this guy is a total unit, and he feels very durable... needless to say, he will get new buddies this 2026... And yes, Spoilers!
Winner) Thanos (Gamerverse)
I never cared about Thanos, much less his classic design. And I felt his purple-and-orange sprite in the Marvel VS Capcom games was just garish. This guy was sort of a bummer, I didn't want him, I just wanted Psylocke. And then I had him in my hands. For some reason... I've had this guy regularly among the figures I fidget with this year, yes, I think Psylocke is the superior figure, but I played with this one quite a bit more!
Most Disappointing Action Figures
This one is like the list above, but when the surprises were, well, not welcome. Maybe some of these figures were good, but I just expected more of them.
5) Power Rangers Lightning Collection Dino Charge Red Ranger
So... this year I discovered that Lightning Collection was actually pretty good. Well, this here Red Ranger was a mess. Sometimes you get a copy of a figure with stiffer joints than usual, well, every copy of this figure has the same darn tight shoulders that will break some day. It WILL happen. And when I tried to fix it, it only got worse. And it sucks, because I felt the Dino Charge designs were pretty good.
4) DC Universe Classics Hal Jordan(Wave 20)
Y'know, I bought this guy last year. As soon as I moved his leg it crumbled. Then I moved the other one... and it crumbled again. I threw him into the trash. So I bought him again this year... AND HIS LEG CRUMBLED AGAIN, at least it was only one of them this time around. I really, REALLY like the DCUC lines of figures, but they have either yellowed or turned brittle which is what prevented me from buying more of them... that and Mattel getting the license again. Oh, well!
3) DC Universe Classics Clayface
At face value, this is one of the most impressive looking DCUC figures that Mattel ever made, look at all the detail! But... and it's a BIG but... his arms are made of rubber, a material KNOWN to waste away very easily with time. Being about 15 years old, this figure's arms are already showing tears. What a shame!
Runner-up) Star Wars The Black Series Anakin Skywalker (Ahsoka)
This year I watched the entire Clone Wars series, and it's some of the best Star Wars content ever made. So I knew that I had to get Anakin and Obi-Wan's armored looks. First I got Obi-Wan, and he was spectacular, so I had high hopes for Anakin.... only to get this long armed freak. He just looks ugly any way I pose it, eugh.
Winner) Game of Thrones Legacy Collection. AS A WHOLE
Early this year I got Jamie, from Funko's Game of Thrones Legacy Collection, and he was a nice figure. The detail was pretty good, and while some joints were a bit tight, and his sword scabbard came off... he was fine. So I bought more figures. All of them, ALL of them had issues. Be it joints that broke or stuff that came off, no figure, except Jamie, is missing super glue. And some of them, like Jon Snow, don't even resemble the actor. But AT ALL. This entire line of figures is disgusting and it put me off from trying their other lines. No wonder they are going Bankrupt. Translucent plastic joints? Everyone knows they are brittle. Even when they were new people had breaks, I LOOKED IT UP. They got one of the most popular IPs at the time and they sank it. Horrible.
