Action Figure #498: Star Wars The Black Series Lando Calrissian(The Empire Strikes Back)

Can you believe the PILOT they meet on the CLOUD city is called LAND-o?

Lando Calrissian always felt a bit special to me, as if he was kind of a sixth ranger, I mean, he is introduced at the very end of the second movie, but is firmly on the side of the good guys in the third movie, being a key part of winning the battle against the empire!
Sadly, his figure is... wonky. There's three main Landos you can pick from: Empire Strikes Back Lando, Return of the Jedi Lando and disguised Lando, Solo: A Star Wars Story's Lando doesn't count. I've always felt that Lando's blue ensemble from the second movie was his most iconic look, so I went for that one. The face sculpt is absolutely perfect, it's the rest of the figure that looks... off. He comes with three accessories: A solid-plastic cape that restricts most movement, a blaster he can't get a good shooting hold on and a tiny communicator that looks like a vape. As simple as this look is, the body proportions just don't look right.
On the outset, the figure has as much articulation as other older Black Series' figure, the ones with double-jointed knees... but if you want him to wear the cape, forget about being able to move his arms. And the cape is supposed to hold over his shoulders, so it just comes off if you just so much as bend any of his arms. Without soft goods, this figure can't work well. Or they could've made it of a softer plastic and add some sort of collar to hold the cape in place. Not movie accurate, but it would at least let you play with him.
And why not remove the cape? Because then you can see just how weird his body proportions are. I mean... look at those rounded hips, what is this figure? This figure NEEDS the cape to look decent.
His ab-crunch is already showing chipped paint after owning him for little over 24 hours. I bought him completely new too(I simply forgot to take my own photo of the box before opening him up!). He is quite a bit shorter than Bucky Cap.
Yeah.... Lando didn't get a decent Empire Strikes Back figure, a bit of a shame. I might try again with Return of the Jedi Lando.
