Action Figure #110: Dragon Stars Gogeta(Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan)

That form's name is just stupid... sigh, I hate Super.

There's a lot I dislike about Super, but these dumb 'Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan' are one of the big ones. Blue hairs don't look as good as yellow! But yet, here we are, with yet another Gogeta.
The sculpt is exactly the same as the last Gogeta, which, in this case, is a good thing. I don't like the blue hair as much, BUT, this figure features a shaded skin tone which looks REALLY good, and it's not something you'd expect out of a budget line. And that's about the only difference. Oh! And he is missing the halo!
The articulation is the same, even down to the squeaky legs, which are a bit scary. I really should oil these guys up.
This Gogeta is exactly the same as the last one, but I'll tell you this much, the shaded skin is very impressive.

Action Figure #109: DC Universe Classics Booster Gold(Modern)

 I love metallic gold figures!

This Booster Gold figure is super interesting because he was released alongside a 'Classic' variant that adds a collar. Anyways, I don't know much about Booster Gold, BUT, I know a little. Not enough to tell you what the ship that is attached to his back is, however....
I really love this guy. The sculpt managed to get a somewhat cocky smile on his face that I really like. And the best part about him, is that he is painted in metallic gold and blue, so he stands out a lot. He's a very simple design, so not a lot of unique sculpting to him, but what they did is fantastic. He even has translucent yellow glasses on. He also has this micro ship attached to his back, it seems like you can't take it out, or at least, I didn't want to force it out, and you can open it to reveal its tiny machinery. Once again, this time around, I've read comic books WITH Booster Gold, and I know about him, but not enough as to know what this little ship is.
Do I really need to say it? The articulation is the same as with any other DCUC figure. Nothing more, nothing less.
As I said above... I love this guy. I love putting him on my displays, because he looks so good with his metallic shine.

Action Figure #108: Marvel Legends Mantis(Cosmo Wave)

Not an actual mantis, thank god.

I gave up. I gave up on ever having a comic accurate Mantis, and one that is accurate to the 2006's Guardians of the Galaxy comic. So I took the best next thing, the figure based on the movie that gave them uniforms that resemble the ones they wore in 2006!
I'm not into MCU figure, I prefer my figures to be based on the comics, but she looks really good. As with the other MCU figures, there's a lot of texture to her costume, which makes her stand out against comic book Marvel figures, but if this is what I've got to do to have a Mantis, well, I'll take it. Her Antennas are a bit too soft, so expect them to bend and warp a lot.
This is the standard Marvel Legends articulation... and that's a good thing, because female figures tend to get the shaft. But she's got a ball jointed-torso, as well as arm swivels, so you can do a lot of fun poses with her.
Is it the Mantis I wanted? No. But she's good enough, y'know? She's a really good action figure, and if you squint a little... she could be a mixture of silver age Mantis, who was flesh-toned instead of green, and 2006's GoG's Mantis.

Action Figure #107: DC Universe Classics Cyborg

Remember when Cyborg wore shorty-shorts? I do.

I'm not the biggest fan of Cyborg's classic costume, but every modern Cyborg available, made by Mattel, is based on the movies, and I'm not the biggest fan of those eithers!
At least they opted to make him silver instead of white, as he is usually depicted. Look, I'm not gonna lie, I always thought that classic Titans Cyborg looked super silly, and this figure won't change my mind. But they did a great job at adapting him into plastic, and that's what really matters: Accuracy to the source material.
The articulation is your standard DCUC affair, nothing more, nothing else. He came with two alternate hands, but I bought him used and with a cannon arm... and I don't mind, this is how I would've displayed him anyways! He's as tall as the Bucky-Cap figures.
Once again, while I'm not a fan of this Cyborg design I will still applaud Mattel's team for bringing this character to life. If you like how he looked in the silver age of comic books, well, go have your treat.

Action Figure #106: Marvel Legends Shocker(Retro-Carded)

  SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCKER!!!!!!!!(Only 90's kids will understand)

If it isn't our favorite jobber, Shocker! Can you believe that when he was first introduced he actually could give Spidey some trouble? Nowadays he's but a joke. Makes me cry every time!
I sincerely love this sculpt. The quilted texture of his costume was actually sculpted and not drawn, which adds a lot to this figure. If it was up to me, I would've painted them black too, but I'll take it anyways. He has unique armbands/hands, and he comes with two different pairs, relaxed and punchy. My one issues, is that just like they did with the original 90's Cyclops and the original Daredevil(Spoilers!) the yellow they used is closed to an orange than a yellow.
The poseability on this figure is exactly the same as the one on a Bucky-Cap mold, and he is just as tall.
He's really good. I don't really know why they used the Spider-man Retro-card box on him if he resembles his comic-book counterpart, but I'm not the head of Hasbro now am I?

Action Figure #105: Dragon Stars Gogeta(Super Saiyan)

And now, back to the Dragon Stars.

Well, I had to take a detour to make The Rocketeer the number #100 figure, but back to our regular programming with Dragon Stars Gogeta! Remember when I listed my top 3 favorite Dragon Ball characters? Gogeta is number 4.
This was one of their latter releases, and it shows. The arms are still slightly shorter than I would've liked, but the sculpting is leagues above the figures I've talked about(Goku Black Rose and Vegeto). Oh! And you can take off his jacket! The yellow hair has white details to make it look even shinier.
Articulation is similar to what we've seen, but they've added drop-down hips to give more range to the legs. It's OK, but his legs are super squeaky when moving them around. I should add some oil to them. This new sculpt is taller than their previous figures, as you can see, before Goku Black needed his hair to reach Bucky-Cap, now he's almost AS tall without the hair.
Gogeta is among the best Dragon Stars that I own. It's still not as smooth or well made as a really good Marvel Legends, but they are getting close.

Action Figure #104: DC Multiverse The Ray

Light a ray of light, but human... a human ray!

Could it be? Could The Ray be another character I know nothing about but I thought the figure was cool so I bought it? Almost. He looked cool AND he was super cheap. So there's that.
As I mentioned before, who is this guy? I don't know, but he looks cool as hell. The white and gold looks amazing, even if the navy blue jacket makes him look like a trumpeter or somethin'. He seems to use the same mold as their Red Hood figure, which is fine by me as this guy looks completely different. But yeah, great color choices all around.
The articulation is exactly the same as Red Hood's, so he is one of the few Multiverse characters to have feet pivots, but, the jacket does hamper the range on his arms when you try to push them close to the torso. He is slightly taller than a Bucky-Cap... thanks to the crest on his helmet!
This guy looks great, so much so that I actually wikipedia'd him, and he doesn't sound half bad!

Action Figure #103: Marvel Legends Wolverine(Bonebreaker Wave)

Remember the heat claws? Not even Marvel wants to remember.

A few years ago, Marvel had this event, the Death of Wolverine. It was such an obvious marketing ploy that they promised he would stay dead for at least a year. Even Marvel knows that death in their comics means squat. But alas, upon his return... they gave him the ability to heat his claws? Why? His adamantium claw can already cut through anything, so... what's the point? None. But hey, he was super cheap and I needed a Wolvie!
The sculpt is really good, as a matter of fact, he has very think arms and a shorter frame than your average Marvel Legends, so he is not 'just another' Buck Cap. The claws are a bit ugly, because they are a bit transparent and a bit too short for my taste, but hey, I've got a Wolverine on my collection, don't I? The yellow is a bit too neon-y for my taste, but it's not too awful.
The articulation is fine, just keep in mind that his thick arms do get in the way of the double jointed elbows, but that aside, he is good to go. As I mentioned before, he is slightly shorter than the Bucky-Cap mold, as he should!
Yeah, this figure scratched my Wolverine itch. It's not the best, but for its price it couldn't be beat, at the time anyways.

Action Figure #102: DC Universe Classics Aquaman(Wave 2)

  Another Aquaman? Another Aquaman.

I've been an Aquaman before the new 52 mind you. While people laughed at him, I knew how much of a badass he was ever since his hand was eaten by piranhas. This was my third 6 inch DC action figure, he was the final purchase I needed to make sure that DCUC figures meshed well with Marvel Legends.
This is not my favorite look for Aquaman, because I really don't like the black booty-shorts over the green pants, but what can ya do? The sculpt itself is alright, but it's kind of a shame that he came with two left biceps. For the longest time I couldn't quite pinpoint what looked so odd about him... well, it was his arms.
Articulation is... y'know the deal, it's the standard DCUC deal, nothing more, nothing else. He's slightly taller than the Bucky-Cap mold.
He's a good figure, I love how his trident look, but... two left biceps? Really?

Action Figure #101: Marvel Legends Namor(Walgreens Exclusive)

I like him better with clothes on.

Namor is quite the guy. Reintroduced with the Fantastic Four, this guy has been everything, from hero, to anti hero, to villain to even part of the X-Men. He's done it all.
Well, I went for clothed Namor because I've never liked his booty-shorts looks. And it looks great, the black-and-teal looks very royal on him. He seems to be based on the Bucky-Cap mold, but he has HUGE arms, this guy lifts!
Articulation is exactly what you'd expect out of the Bucky-Cap mold, but his shoulders seem to be too large for the torso-socket, so expect some friction. He is slightly taller than the Bucky-Cap mold, which works for him.
This guy is great, this is everything I expected out of Namor, honestly.

Action Figure #100: Loose Collector/Executive Replicas The Rocketeer(The Rocketeer Double Pack)

This time around, unlike figure #60, I did plan this one, hehe!

It's no exaggeration when I say that this figure of The Rocketeer is one my favorite figures in my collection. So let's get on with it!
The sculpt is pretty much identical to your standard Marvel Legends, he is missing butterfly joints, but given the character, they are not necessary. The figure has a lot of shading, and details, and the different browns and beiges look beautiful with his golden helmet. He also comes with an unmasked head, and while the sculpt is good... the paint is terrible, they gave him the pinkest lips ever, so it looks as if Cliff is wearing makeup. He comes with a comic-inspired purple-and-silver jetpack that connects via a peg to a port in his back, and he also gets this cool looking fire jettison effect. I seriously love how this figure looks. Much like Betty, he also has that weird crotch piece, but since it's the same color as his pants, it's not too noticeable.
As I said before, the articulation feels straight out of a Marvel Legends. Every joint worked great, and he feels much sturdier than a Marvel Legends.... unlike Betty who very quickly lost her arms.
See? SEE?
This guy is fantastic, for a few months I couldn't put the figure down, and I have him on display constantly. He looks fantastic, honestly. About the only issue with him is the price point, which was elevated due to Betty... but soon it won't be an issue since he is re-releasing with his dog instead of Betty, dropping the price point about 60usd. Now's the time to get him!

Action Figure #99: DC Multiverse Flash(Wally West)

From the idiots that brought you Spider-man(Miles Morales) comes Flash(Wally West).

Nothing annoys me more than when two characters are active at the same time and share the same moniker. The moment Miles Morales crossed over to 616 he should've gotten a new code name or Peter should've retired. The moment Ben Reilly was revived, he should've gotten a new name(At least now he's going by Chasm(Spoilers!)) and, the precursor to this idiocy.... Flash(Wally West). Wally did more for the Flash legacy than Barry ever did, but some IDIOT decided to revive Barry and give him all of Wally's abilities and now they are both active at the same time using the same moniker. I  ******** hate Marvel and DC comic books sometimes.
But we are here to write about action figures. For all intents and purposes, he was done in the same mold as Kyle Rayner but with a new head. Sadly... his head is a bit oversized. It's not hideous but once you notice it's hard not to notice. I've never like Wally's second-fiddle costume, the two reds and the silver just don't mix very well in my eyes, however, I love how this figure looks next to Jim Lee's Cyclops or the aforementioned Kyle Rayner. With another character next to him, particularly the ones I mentioned, suddenly his look and colors become great... as a complementary figure.
Articulation is, well, the same as Kyle Rayner's. Swivel waist, swivel legs, double jointed legs, single jointed arms and an ab crunch, the basics, really. See how much taller he looks than Kyle Rayner when next to the Bucky-Cap mold? It's his giant head.
If only it wasn't for his giant head...! But still, it's a decent figure, go figure!
6.5

Action Figure #98: Marvel Legends X-Man

Not the whole team, just the one guy, the X-Man.

I was first introduced to X-Man through a very old action figure, and thanks to it I learned all about him and Cable and their relationship, and that guy was among my favorite action figures, I regularly made him the hero of my stories, so believe me, I've been wanting an action figure of this guy for a long time.
...but not like this. The sculpt is not super terrible, but the jacket adds enough dimension to him to as making him look very top-heavy, and I don't think the sleeves were well designed at all, so it looks as if he has tiny hands. No matter how you look at him, something looks off, and it's very irksome! His face also looks too stern and too old, this figure is based on X-Man's first appearance, when he first crossed over from Apocalypse' era, so he should be more Peter's age, more of a teen than a battle-hardened warrior.
The articulation is just a basic Bucky-Cap mold. He's as tall as one too.
In one word... disappointing. There's nothing completely horrible about the figure, but from the waist up... he just looks odd, man. He also looks to old... I don't know, he seems uninspired.
