Action Figure #657: Marvel Legends Ultimate Iron Man(Mini-Comic Wave)

 Anthony put on some pounds!

After Extremis got me back into Iron Man, well, I also gave Ultimate Iron Man a try. The suit was ugly, but the whole giant brain skin was definitely a new take on Tony. I don't remember how much I liked the run, but I read every issue, so I think younger, universitary me liked it! Which means the moment this figure was announced I knew I had to get him
I absolutely LOVE the sculpt. As far as I can tell, it's an entirely new sculpt that I don't think they'll be able to reuse on anything else, because as far as I remember, even Ultimate War Machine had a very different body. And it came out looking great! It's full of mechanical details everywhere, and the paint job looks top-notch... except maybe the flat blue-reactor paint, but whatever. He comes with two fists, two open-shooting hands(Which aren't mirrors of each other!), two gripping hand and... yes, the mini comic.
Look at how cool this hand came out! The fingers are in different positions from the left hand too!
The articulation hits all the Marvel Legends standards: Double jointed elbows and knees, swivels on the biceps and thighs, with ball jointed ab crunch and waist. The pauldrons on his shoulders rotate alongside the arm, so they don't hamper the articulation in any way. The ball joints are the biggest suspects, I didn't get much range out of his waist and torso articulation, as the figure likes to sorta recoil into a more neutral position. I mean, you can get some ab crunch, but not as much as you'd expect from the ball joint. Another thing to take into account, is that due to the sculpt on his legs, in order to get the most out of the hip articulation you will have to rotate his thigh swivels to let the smaller parts of the legs get inside the hips, thus allowing for a broader split. It's very simple. While he is beefier and bulkier than other Iron Man figures, he is as tall as any of them, as well as tall as Bucky Cap.
Honestly, leaving the small issues with the torso articulation aside, this is a fantastic representation of Ultimate Iron Man. The sculpt and paint is spot on, and he is fun to play with. And while I don't particularly like his design, I do like how he stands out from the other Armors while still being recognizable as Tony.... can we get Ultimate War Machine next?

Action Figure #656: Marvel Legends Adam Warlock(Mini-Comic Wave)

 Cosmic Marvel's most forgotten hero.

You wouldn't know it from watching the movies, but Adam Warlock used to be the centerpiece of cosmic Marvel, and this would include events like Infinity Gauntlet in which he was a key player in beating Thanos. He was probably deemed too 'out there' for the average MCU fan, so all we got was a watered down version of him in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Look, I was quite happy with my other Adam Warlock, as his Guardians of the Galaxy incarnation is my favorite one, but I didn't mind getting a more classic look... a more classic look with pants, as the original Adam didn't wear any! The sculpt on this guy is great. He usen the Vulcan body as a base, so he is ripped, and they gave him a very angry expression which I don't think fits him the best, but it does make him look imposing! I dig his two-colored cape. He comes with two fists, a gripping left hand and... a trigger finger right hand. Why? Probably because of the vertical hinge, to make him able to point with his staff, but still a weird choice because he comes with a left fist for the infinity gauntlet. And boy oh boy, the Infinity Gauntlet is one of the coolest accessories for an action figure, because due to the way it's been made, you can give it to any other figure built on a buck of similar size! The cuff of the gauntlet goes over the arm, and then you just slot in the gauntlet fist and voila! It's amazing. He also comes with the useless mini comic.
Articulation is the same as the Vulcan Buck. Double jointed elbows and knees, swivels on his biceps, boots, thighs and waist, a hinged ab crunch and a butterfly joint. His soft-plastic came WILL hamper some of his articulation, but it's not too bad. He is a hair taller than Bucky Cap.
There's a lot to like here, but I'm not gonna lie, what really makes the figure a winner for me is the ingenious Infinity Gauntlet accessory. Not only do you get a dope looking classic Adam Warlock, but an Infinity Gauntlet you can equip on most other Legends! Truly Excelsior!

Action Figure #655: Marvel Legends Daken(Mini-Comic Wave)

Mini Wolverine comes with a Mini Comic.

Daken is not a character I love, but it slowly grew on me, seeing him interacting with Johnny Storm, Skaar and the whole Deadpool/Wolverine/Daken crossover as I read his solo title, so I'd say that I like him. I don't love him, but I like him... so I've been waiting for this figure for a long, long time... even if it's in his Dark Wolverine garb.
For starters... yeah, this ain't my favorite look for the guy. I kinda wish we had gotten his shirtless look, but at this point I'll take what I can get. This is the look he wore during his stint in the Dark Avengers, and... yeah, it's accurate to that point. You can see the tattoo on his left arm, which is pretty neat, and he comes with an unmasked head which is the one I'll be using. He also comes with two three-clawed hands, a two-clawed hand and a gripping hand so that he can use the dull mini-comic accessory. I don't see myself ever posing my figures with it, but... well, it's better than nothing. The one gripe is that they didn't manage to match the color on the softer plastic knees with the rest of his legs.
The guy is as articulated as most marvel legends. Swivels on his thighs, biceps and waist, a hinged ab crunch, double jointed elbows and knees and butterfly joints. It all adds up to a very playable figure. The shoulders seem to be a bit too tight on the butterfly joints, as this torso was made for smaller shoulders, but it's not horrible. He is a bit taller than his father and just a hair taller than Bucky Cap.
So, for Hasbro's first attempt at the character I would've preferred them going for a look that is more unique to Daken than him impersonating his father, but I've waited for so long that I'll take what I can get. I appreciate the extra hands to pose him with, and he looks pretty good and plays nicely too. Yeah, he is a good addition to my collection and will fit the void until we get a proper Daken as himself.
