Game #1126: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2(Gameboy Advance)

Tony Hawk, Tony Hawk, does whatever a Skater can...

It seems that even when it comes to the handheld entries I'll be playing them out of order, so now I'm tackling the first GBA Tony Hawk, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. Missing reverts and flat land tricks hurts, but we are also missing textures on the skaters, which was surprising but didn't look half bad!

The game is made up of 7 stages. 5 Stages come from Tony Hawk 2, 1 from Tony Hawk 1 and then... there's an awful exclusive Rooftop stage. This last, bonus, stage doesn't even have goals! Regardless, this is classic Tony Hawk: 2 minutes, finish as many goals as you can and find money to upgrade your stats. I'm sure most goals were kept identical from the original game, although now you play every stage from an isometrical perspective.

The game plays very well, although one has to keep in mind that reverts are missing, so you can't create the massive combos the series would eventually be known for. Controls are responsive, the mount of stages is sufficient, for a handheld game, and they even kept Spider-man as a secret skater!

Honestly, the game is a great port, considering the limitations of the system. The worst things I have to say about the game is that is missing features that would make it into future games.
